About the Founder

Welcome. I’m Dr. Deirdre Williams, a Doctor of Social Work and Licensed Clinical Social Worker; I serve as the founder and Executive Clinical Director of Dear Diary Psychotherapy LCSW Service PLLC. With nearly 2 decades of experience in direct clinical care, supervision, education, and agency leadership, I bring a broad perspective to the work of healing and growth.

My practice is grounded in the belief that therapy should be compassionate, collaborative, culturally responsive, and accessible. I understand that each person’s experiences are shaped by their identity, relationships, culture, environment, history, and access to resources. These realities deserve to be acknowledged—not minimized or separated from the therapeutic process.

I am committed to creating a supportive space where clients can feel heard, respected, and understood while exploring the experiences that have shaped them. Therapy may involve building greater self-awareness, processing difficult emotions, understanding relationship patterns, developing healthier boundaries, strengthening coping skills, or reconnecting with parts of yourself that may have been overlooked or suppressed.

My approach is informed by trauma-informed care, restorative justice, cultural humility, and a whole-person understanding of mental health. I am especially interested in helping clients explore the narratives and lived truths they carry, including patterns that may exist within themselves, their relationships, their families, communities, and across generations. Together, we can build curiosity, increase understanding, support accountability, and create new possibilities for healing.

Through Dear Diary Psychotherapy, my team and I provide person-centered care to individuals and families navigating chronic stress, anxiety, depression, family dynamics, identity exploration, life transitions, and other personal or relational challenges. We recognize that seeking support can feel vulnerable, and we strive to make the process welcoming and affirming.

You do not have to arrive with everything figured out. Our role is to meet you with compassion, honor your lived experience, and support you in developing meaningful goals and sustainable pathways forward.

About the Practice

Founded by Dr. Deirdre Williams, Dear Diary Psychotherapy (DDP) was created in response to the systemic inequities that continue to affect access to mental health care—particularly for communities that have been historically marginalized and underrepresented.

DDP is committed to providing inclusive, culturally responsive, and individualized mental health services. We believe quality care should be accessible and affirming for people of all identities, backgrounds, family structures, socioeconomic circumstances, and life experiences. Our work includes not only supporting individual healing, but also understanding and addressing the barriers that can make it difficult to seek or sustain care.

Our clinicians support individuals and families who may be navigating complex personal, relational, and systemic circumstances, including court involvement, housing instability or homelessness, psychiatric hospitalization, correctional settings, workplace stress, and other challenging life experiences. We recognize that these experiences can affect a person’s sense of safety, trust, identity, and connection. For this reason, we prioritize the development of a strong therapeutic relationship grounded in collaboration, respect, transparency, and mutual understanding.

At DDP, therapy is not something done to you. It is a collaborative process that honors your voice, strengths, values, and lived experience. Our role is to create a supportive space where you and, when appropriate, your family or support network can engage openly, develop insight, and identify meaningful pathways forward.

Our practice is informed by trauma-responsive care, cultural humility, restorative principles, and evidence-based therapeutic frameworks. We help clients process past experiences, build resilience, strengthen relationships, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful change. We also recognize the importance of accountability, curiosity, and understanding the patterns that shape individuals, families, communities, and larger systems.

Ultimately, Dear Diary Psychotherapy exists to help people feel supported, empowered, and better equipped to navigate their mental health journeys. Whether you are seeking support during a difficult transition, working through longstanding experiences, or ready to pursue personal growth, we welcome the opportunity to walk alongside you.

Healing can begin with being heard, understood, and supported.
